Truffles with their creamy smooth interior and chocolatey richness are one of my favourite confections. This 5 ingredient chocolate truffle tart allows you the pleasure of sinking your teeth into a melty ganache centre, without all the tedious work of rolling individual truffles by hand. The key to making this simple recipe taste extraordinary is by using the best quality chocolate you can get your hands on.
1 1/4 cups chocolate cookie crumbs
4 tbsp butter, melted
Mix together the chocolate cookie crumbs and melted butter until all the crumbs are well coated.
Press the mixture firmly into an 8" pie plate and bake in a 350F oven for 10min
Remove to cool slightly.
3/4 cups 35% cream
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 tbsp butter
1/8 tsp salt
Pour the cream into a saucepan and heat until it just comes to a simmer.
Add the chocolate chips and butter to the cream and remove from the heat. Whisk together until you have a smooth and homogenous mixture.
Pour into waiting cookie crumb shell.
Place covered in the fridge for a minimum of 6hrs
Remove from the fridge 30min before serving.
Garnishes (choose one or all)
TIP: If your crowd prefers milk chocolate, simply swap out the semi-sweet chocolate chips for milk chocolate chips.
